In the spring of 2006 I had the privilege of accompanying Dave on a trip to Pennsylvania to pick up a load of cherry logs to be brought home for processing. I brought my camera along so you could join us.

Upon our arrival in the morning we were presented with an inventory to pick from
Dave gets the lowdown from the logging crew
They had preselected these thinking he might like them
“This one here was only driven by a nice old lady from California”
“So how much you want for that one?”
“Say What?”
After much investigation and lengthy, detailed “discussion” a deal was struck
Exposing fresh endgrain to check for defects
Heavy lifting - the hydraulic way
The boom operator had a very sweet touch
Careful placement helps to balance the load properly
Dave was only interested in logs of the very highest quality
And he got what he wanted
Securing the load for the trip home
Weeks Mills or bust
